John Van Der Hyde Office ProfileThe Virginia Group has a venerable, rich history with roots back to the late 1800's beginning right here in Richmond. Early in 1877, the Home Office of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network made a decision to locate a general agency in Richmond which would service the entire state of Virginia. Having full realization of the challenges the agency would encounter, The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company spent nearly a year searching for the right man to run the office. In late 1877, the Virginia General Agency was offered to and accepted b Over 130 years later the Virginia Group of Northwestern Mutual is still proudly serving Richmond and its surrounding communities including Virginia Beach (and the entire Hampton roads area), Roanoke, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Lynchburg, Lexington, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, and the Outer Banks, North Carolina.. In fact, the Richmond office has been recognized as a top 40 opportunity within the company due to market demographics and growth potential.
